Davos, things just got exciting: Elon Musk will be in town.
Musk wasn't expected to attend the World Economic Forum. But a day after President Donald Trump's speech, the Tesla and SpaceX chief has been added to the schedule.
The world's richest man is now on the books for an open session at 4:30 p.m. Swiss time on Thursday, with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink.
Flight data from ADS-B Exchange showed that Musk's private jet, a Gulfstream G650, took off from San Jose International Airport on Wednesday night, local time, and is traveling east. However, it's not yet clear whether Musk is on the aircraft.
Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by Business Insider.
He's had a rocky public relationship with the organizers of Davos. In 2023, he made a post questioning the need for the Zurich conference and the World Economic Forum.
"Are they trying to be the boss of Earth!?" he wrote at the time.
Musk said in 2022 that he had also declined an invitation to Davos, writing on social media that it was "boring AF." The World Economic Forum, however, said at the time that he hadn't been invited since 2015.
More recently, the billionaire has drawn attention for his public feud with Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary, after the latter said he wasn't interested in installing Starlink on his airline's fleet due to several drawbacks.
The World Economic Forum has not said what's on Musk's speaking agenda for Thursday.
